received a master’s degree in Theatre Studies from the Jagiellonian University, and a PhD degree from the Institute of European Studies of the Jagiellonian University. He works as a dramaturge, theatre critic and art projects curator. In 2006 he established with a group of friends the Nowy Theatre in Krakow which is presently one of the most interesting stages in town with a clear, socially engaged profile. He has received numerous awards and distinctions for his artistic and academic activities, among others two artistic Italian Government scholarships, a scholarship from the Foundation for Polish Science and an artistic scholarship from the Mayor of Krakow. Kire¢czuk is mostly interested in introducing non-theatrical texts on stage and texts that require intensive dramaturgical work to adapt them to the needs of theatre. His publications include Od sztuki w działaniu do działania w sztuce (From Art in Action to Action in Art, 2008) and Nowy Wiek Kultury (New Age of Culture; with Dana Bie¢, 2012). Currently he is working on a book called Anger Will Set You Free in which he analyses the social function of anger. As a dramaturge he collaborated with theatres in Krakow, Wroclaw and Kielce where he prepared plays based on Ibsen, Witkacy, Yerofeyev.
